Lesson

Thought Adjuster: “Dear child, let us talk today about the negative influence of the holding of grudges and the feeding of resentment. Yes, resentment has to be fed in order to live on. Do you realize what this involves? All energies have to be sustained by give and take. Emotions are energies as well and, unfortunately, they are being unconsciously misused and abused. What do I mean by that?

“You frequently hear about people being ‘taken over’ by powerful emotions — some times to the point that they lose total control and go on an emotional rampage. Such is the case when no room is left for honest introspection. Not only do emotions become so inflated that they literally explode, but also there are no ‘sentinels’ in place to send off warning signals before the situation gets out of hand.

“Introspection should be the first damage-control response to such episodes. By going within, you are disengaging yourself from the overwhelming circumstances. You are taking an intelligent time out so as to gather your wits. If you fail do to so, the storming emotions that you experience may have the destructive power of a tsunami — leveling everything and everyone on their furious passage as you will justify your behavior by the projection of blame onto others instead of looking within for the real root cause of your emotional imbalance.

Thinking brings about emotions but there is the latent danger that these emotions, once unleashed, will shut down the rational thinking. When this happens, this gives rise to a very unstable situation as the rational safety valve has been disabled.

“You will leap forward in your spiritual journey once you learn how to subdue these negative emotions. They are harmful to you and to others. They are festering emotions that keep growing inside you like fungi if your inner climate is clement to them. Is this how you want to live your life? Tossed around by moodiness? Wouldn’t you rather reclaim your usurped will power and kick these emotional squatters out of your being?

“Can you imagine how it would feel? Whenever your walls display ugly stains, you do your best to lift them off. Do you realize that grudges, resentment, bitterness are the ugly staining agents of your soul? They do not feel good; yet, why are so many of you wallowing in them?

“Emotions can be traded up any time you want to. Therein lays your power. Some emotions are absolutely incompatible with one another. Learn to wisely select them from your emotional color palette. Swap darker emotions for brighter ones. They will be like a coat of fresh paint on your inner world. Do no longer delay this powerful home make-over. Serve these nefarious emotional free loaders their eviction notice; keep the door of your heart open to loving emotions and allow them to move into the vacated space. By doing so, the value of your inner life will greatly appreciate. This is how you flip your much coveted inner real estate.”
